From this definition intersexuality means that the meaning of the term is about art work that combines more then one style of art collapsing art eras into one work explaining relationships between different art forms, this usually is used is art and design that the viewer has seen today relating that to a different art era. So when we see the art we would relate that to the now and the past.
. Research Wiley's work and write a paragraph that analyses how we might make sense of his work. Identify intersexuality in Wiley's work.
Wiley is a Los Angeles native and New York based visual artist his painting style is very traditional of portraits he engages in the signs and visual rhetoric of hero, powerful, majestic and sublime in his representation of his urban black and brown men found throughout the world. This is seen in the portraits.
In my opinion when I see his works he uses a lot of natural elements to the work. In terms of intersexuality and how we can see it in his works is the way he has presented the portraits this would reference back to the renaissance the use of boarders sublime landscape behind the main subjects also the use of colours is based around the renaissance though his paintings are based around what we see today in hip hop and urban culture this is what makes the work intersexuality .
3. Wiley's work relates to next weeks Postmodern theme "PLURALISM" . Read page 46 and discuss how the work relates to this theme.
Pluralism is seen through his work as his style is very European and much styled based on the renaissance this type of style painting and art was usually for High class white male though Wiley has used the black male which were regarded as low class people.
Comment on how Wiley's work raises questions around social/cultural hierarchies, colonisation, globalisation, stereotypes and the politics, which govern a western worldview.
Wiley’s work is based on cultural and social movements and issues also racism judging people about their culture and the colour of their skin his main focus is on the black/African people and the white man. His message in his works is that the lower class “black man” is no longer low class and that we are all equal. This is seen through his works glorifying the black race.
I have much fascination with Wiley’s work it depicts of cultural and race related issues which I find interesting also the fact that many of his works have a political view and is cool and debatable the style using the renaissance is very cool incorporating the theme of hip hop urban culture this type of work would relate much to young youth and become very popular
